Thankfully because of societal pressure, brands have had to adapt and offer what we the public need and want. Just like I wrote a few years ago about the shift here, we the people have much say on what goes on in the world – we just don’t know it.
Women especially are the game changers. We are the main consumers, the majority still manages a home and the buying persona brands dedicate their efforts to.
Sustainability and Climate Change is constantly in the media which is a good thing, but don’t be fooled that because of it anything will change. The real change comes when we roar instead of whispering. Take a stand, say enough is enough and start making changes today. Your children will thank you in the future.
So with the Holidays around the corner, here are some suggestions for some sustainable kids toys:
Lidl (A German supermarket brand) has invested in some real changes in the last couple of years. They offer a wide selection of wooden toys for all ages, promote local produce and offers an organic section that keeps getting bigger everyday.
I bought these wooden cooking and food sets for my son’s birthday but they could easily be for Christmas too. They are just adorable and affordable too.
In previous years, we make sure we make our own gifts for the family, which is a big one by the way. For the children we ususally get them books and when they don’t interest them anymore I donate them to their public school or sell them online.
Every family is different and what works for us might not work for yours, but if you have that voice in your head, saying that you need to make a stand, why not start consuming as a green act?
What are your suggestions for sustainable presents? It would be great for you to share your thoughts in the comments below.
Wishing you a Happy Holidays Season!
